There is an old NFL adage that if you have two good QBs on your roster, then you really don't have one. It is to say that if you don't have a standout, the position isn't really strongly represented. As a Niner fan, I'm aware of at least one extremely rare example (Joe Montana and Steve Young, duh). I wish I can ask whoever coined this platitude what does it mean when you have three as the 2012 Miami Dolphins? With QBs David Garrard, Matt Moore, and 8th overall 2012 draft pick Ryan Tannehill (Texas A&M), the Phins had a 3-way battle forming until Garrard was held out for knee surgery. Before training camp was out, Tannehill, who was trepidatiously received by the Phins fans when his pick was first announced was fully supported by a fan base flip flop more annoying than the Miami Dolphins' theme song.
